Welcome first year 4-H members!

I would like to personally welcome you to the Minnesota 4-H Youth Development program! Minnesota 4-H brings groups of young people and caring adults together to learn, create, solve problems, and provide leadership in their communities. We believe we are a vibrant organization, focused on the right things, creating a fun environment where you can learn and thrive. I am so excited you and your family have chosen to be a part of Minnesota 4-H.

Minnesota 4-H Youth Development serves over 31,000 youth, ranging in ages from as young as five years old to as old as 19. Some communities have 4-H clubs that have been around for many years. New members are welcome to join these or start their own clubs. What can you expect from Minnesota 4-H? The 4-H experience offers fun and interesting hands-on learning experiences during which you can explore new ideas, learn new skills in areas that interest you, and make choices about how you spend your time as a 4-H member.

We want you to feel welcomed into Minnesota 4-H, right from the start. My advice to you during this first year is to ask a lot of questions and find topics that you want to explore. Dig in and get your hands dirty. Have fun while you are learning. And if you see me out in your community or at the State Fair, please make sure to introduce yourself and say hello. I would like very much to meet you in person.

We will contact you in September to give you a chance to tell us about your first year of 4-H membership. Until then, have a great year in Minnesota 4-H!

Sincerely,

Dorothy McCargo Freeman
