State Fair Cell Phone Policy

Cell Phone Use Policy

4-H member participants are to understand when the appropriate times to use cell phone and other technological devices are. There are certain times when cell phone use should be avoided and eliminated at all. Those times are:

• During any judging activity. Participants need to respect other 4-Hers by turning off all cell phones to avoid disturbance. It will also be recommended to the parents and general public to avoid those disturbances.
• In the dorm after lights out hours. Once lights are out no cell phones are to be on. This includes talking on the phone and text messaging.
• During any shows or speakers that are presented by 4-Hers or any other group. Cell phones should be off or silent to avoid disturbance. Just use common courtesy. This is for participants and general public.

There will be certain consequences for those disturbances. First off the participant will get a warning about the cell phone use. After one warning the participant may lose their cell phone for the night or the remainder of judging and can pick it up the next morning or after judging. Any further consequences will depend on the severity of the incident and can include a spoken apology or a formal written apology. They will be handled on an individual basis and will be determined by appropriate staff.
