  • Member enrollment for non-White youth in MN by county ranges from 0% to 34% with a statewide average of 3.6%.  The difference between census and enrollment by county ranges from –22% to +11%, with a state average of   –7% discrepancy regarding representation of non-white youth enrolled as members.  Overall, MN 4-H has 27,118 (96.4%, compared with 89.4%, census) white youth and 1,011 (3.6% compared with 10.6%, census) non-white youth enrolled for a total of 28,129 youth.

  • Member enrollment for male youth in MN by county ranges from 27% to 59% with a statewide average of 43.2%.  The difference between census and enrollment by county ranges from –25% to +7%, with a state average of –8.1% discrepancy regarding representation of male youth.  Overall, MN 4-H has 15,982 (56.8% compared with 48.7%, census) females and 12,147 (43.2% compared with 51.3%, census) males enrolled as members for a total of 28,129 youth.

  • Project enrollment for youth in MN indicate that females are the majority of youth signed up in 6 of the 8 major project areas.  The exceptions are Mechanical Sciences and Natural Resources, where males represent 74% and 61% of participants, respectively.  No clear pattern can be determined regarding non-white youth.
