OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES
FREE GIS and Wildfire Leader Training
Engage students in an award-winning, standards-based, authentic project designed to introduce them to wildfire and wildland/urban interface issues and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) while providing a valuable service to their local fire department, community, and the State of Minnesota. The Summer 2009 Firewise Teacher Training will be held August 12-14 at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Registration closes July 30.
GIS programs for 4-H
The Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) has established programs to support 4-H efforts aimed at bringing GIS and other geospatial technologies to young people and qualified adults involved with 4-H clubs and related state and national coordinating organizations. some of the programs include:

COMPASS KITS
If you are interested in checking out a compass kit to spark interest with your youth, contact Katie Clarke (507-372-3900) at the Worthington Regional Office. The kit contains 22 compasses: 18 Silva General compasses and 4 Silva Ranger compasses.
