2010 National 4-H Conference

Regional Extension Educators and local 4-H Program Coordinator/Directors are invited to nominate qualified 4-H young people for this National 4-H Conference experience.

The 2010 National 4-H Conference will be held March 20-25, 2010, at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center located one mile from the nation's capital. Check out the National website for more conference details at 4hconf.4-h.org/

The National 4-H Conference is a working conference in which youth and adults--at the invitation of the Secretary of Agriculture-assist in the development of recommendations to help guide 4-H Youth Development Programs nationally and in their communities. Attendees have the opportunity to share ideas, meet 4-H members from across the nation, bring back new ideas and skills, share personal stories with members of Congress, and learn about National 4-H headquarters and USDA.

Minnesota 4-H youth interested in this opportunity:

  1. Should be involved in 4-H activities beyond their county
  2. Possess good leadership and communication skills
  3. Be nominated by 4-H staff
  4. Must be 15 years old by January, 2010 and cannot be older than 19 on March 19, 2010

  5. Nominee/recommendation application form [MS-Word] [PDF] should be filled out by each of the following:
    1. 4-H Staff (Extension Educator or Program Coordinator)
    2. Nominee is to select one (1) adult who is familiar with qualities and abilities of youth to fill out nominee/recommendation application form
    3. Delegate (youth) should fill out nominee/recommendation application form.

      All forms should be returned to Judith A. Conway at address below

      Deadline for nominations and for all application materials is postmarked by December 4, 2009

 

Estimated cost per Minnesota delegate is around $850. County 4-H Federations/Leaders Councils are encouraged to help defray some of the cost if their 4-H member is appointed to attend this National Conference. Minnesota 4-H Foundation already defrays some of the cost.

Nominee selection will happen prior to December 20, 2009.
